Sludge Conditioning

Sludge conditioning improves the dewatering of sludge generated during industrial wastewater treatment. Before sludge is processed using chamber filter presses or dewatering containers, it can be specifically conditioned to improve its dewatering properties. Conditioning facilitates the separation of water from the sludge and supports subsequent treatment processes.

OKO-tech systems combine process-engineering expertise, automated operation and practical treatment concepts to achieve effective sludge dewatering.

Which Types of Sludge Are Conditioned to Improve Dewatering?

Many types of industrial sludge can benefit from conditioning. These include oil separator sludge, sludge from stormwater retention basins, drilling and bentonite sludge, and enamel sludge.

Other applications include sludge from heavy metal precipitation, industrial wastewater treatment, paint and coating sludge, as well as sludge generated during tank cleaning. Depending on the sludge characteristics, conditioning can significantly improve dewaterability and support subsequent mechanical dewatering.

How Does Sludge Conditioning with OKO-tech Work?

OKO-tech uses OKO-sr agitated tanks, which can also serve as buffer or feed tanks for chamber filter presses or dewatering containers.

The addition of conditioning agents such as lime, iron or aluminium salts and polymers modifies the sludge structure and improves its dewatering properties. This promotes more effective separation of the liquid and solid phases, improves dewatering performance and can reduce process and disposal costs.

Advantages of Sludge Conditioning with OKO-tech

Sludge conditioning can reduce residual moisture, decrease sludge volume and lower disposal costs. It also supports compliance with applicable requirements for sludge treatment and disposal.

By combining process technology, automated control and targeted sludge conditioning, OKO-tech develops treatment concepts that support efficient industrial wastewater treatment and effective sludge management.
