Wastewater Treatment for Mechanical and Plant Engineering

Wastewater treatment for mechanical and plant engineering enables production wastewater to be treated according to the specific requirements of each process. During metalworking, oils, fats and dirt particles from component surfaces can enter the wastewater as cutting oils and metalworking fluid (MWF) emulsions are used. Aggressive chemicals such as hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid and alkaline solutions are also used in pickling processes and can enter the wastewater. Appropriate treatment is therefore required to protect the environment and make responsible use of water resources.

Oil and Emulsion Separation for Treated Production Water

For wastewater treatment in mechanical and plant engineering, OKO-tech uses OKO-aquaclean Emulsion Breaking Systems. They separate oil and emulsified substances from the wastewater. The emulsion breaking process enables rapid separation of these contaminants, improving treated-water quality. Depending on the applicable requirements, the treated water can then be reused or discharged. The resulting sludge can be dewatered using dewatering containers or chamber filter presses, depending on the quantity and characteristics of the residues.

Physico-Chemical Treatment of Acidic and Alkaline Rinsing Wastewater

Acidic and alkaline rinsing wastewater may contain heavy metals and other aggressive substances. OKO-tech treats these wastewater streams using Physico-Chemical Treatment Systems. Neutralisation and heavy metal precipitation are used to reduce dissolved contaminants and adjust the wastewater to the required treatment conditions. This supports compliance with applicable discharge requirements while protecting water resources and production processes.

Treatment Systems for Complex Wastewater Streams in Manufacturing

Manufacturing processes in mechanical and plant engineering can generate wastewater streams with different characteristics. OKO-tech therefore develops treatment systems that can be integrated into existing production processes and designed around the respective wastewater characteristics.

The combination of mechanical pre-treatment, physico-chemical treatment and flotation processes enables the targeted treatment of complex wastewater streams.
