Automotive wastewater treatment is an integral part of vehicle manufacturing. Wastewater is generated at almost every stage of the production process.
During the machining of metal components, manufacturers use metalworking fluid (MWF) emulsions for cooling and lubrication. The machined components must then be thoroughly washed to remove residues of MWF emulsions and cutting oils.
Before painting, metal components undergo chemical pretreatment, such as phosphating, to provide corrosion protection. The production of batteries for electric mobility also generates various wastewater streams that require targeted treatment.

Efficient Automotive Wastewater Treatment
OKO-tech provides wastewater treatment solutions for the automotive industry that address the specific requirements of different production processes.
Oil- and emulsion-containing rinsing and wash water can be treated using OKO-aquaclean emulsion breaking systems, which support effective separation while keeping energy consumption under control. Acidic and alkaline rinsing and wash water can be neutralised as required, while heavy metals can be precipitated and separated using physico-chemical treatment systems.
MWF emulsions can also be treated using organic emulsion breaking processes to reduce the volume of waste streams and facilitate further treatment or disposal.
Solutions for Every Stage of Production
Our treatment systems can be integrated into existing production processes and, where appropriate, treat wastewater close to its point of generation. This enables treatment concepts that are closely aligned with individual production steps.
Automotive wastewater treatment can cover wastewater from mechanical machining, industrial washing and rinsing processes as well as chemical pretreatment and phosphating baths.
For battery production in electric mobility, OKO-tech also develops specialised treatment systems for wastewater streams with different contaminant profiles. The appropriate treatment processes are selected based on the wastewater characteristics and defined treatment targets, supporting stable and compliant production processes.
