Decantation in Industrial Wastewater Treatment
Decantation is a key physical process for separating liquids or phases with different densities. It can be used to separate multiphase systems such as oil-water mixtures, settled solids and floating solid phases, allowing the individual phases to be selectively treated or processed further. This supports controlled wastewater treatment and responsible use of resources.
In industrial applications, wastewater often contains floating light substances or settleable solids. During decantation, gravity is used to separate the different phases: heavier components settle, while lighter phases rise to the surface. A distinct interface forms between the individual phases. Modern treatment systems can use active measurement technology to detect this interface precisely. Depending on the application, conductivity or density measurement can be used, for example with the OKO-sludet and OKO-oildet sensors.
These measurement technologies are used in various OKO-tech systems, including the OKO-rosi, OKO-aquased and OKO-select tanks.
